Lamps CAUTION: Never attempt to disassemble the lamp from its housing or to dispose of it. Due to its high internal pressure, the lamp may explode in either hot or cold states if improperly handled. For recycling guidelines, see "Recycling guidelines" The projector contains 4 lamps, each of them in a separate lamp house. Each lamp can be individually replaced by a spare lamp. Each lamp position has a number that is used in the software to identify the parameters of the corresponding lamp. Replacement – 1) Switch off the projector, and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. 2) Remove the lamp door. 3) Unplug the cable of the lamp. 4) Pull up the fixation handle and rotate it fully upwards. 5) Pull the lamp upwards. CAUTION: Never touch the reflector or the lamp bulb with your fingers. That will reduce the lifetime of the lamp. Never touch the UV filter when a lamp is removed. Cooling System Much heat has to be extracted from the DMD during operation of the projector. The liquid cooling circuit takes care of this. The liquid cooling circuit is a closed loop of flexible tubing comprising of a pump, a cooling block for the DMD, a heat exchanger and a cooling liquid reservoir. The cooling liquid inside the circuit absorbs the heat of the cooling block. Via the pump, the heated-up liquid is transported to the heat exchanger, which in turn cools down the liquid. The liquid reservoir in the circuit makes it possible to put a small pressure on the cooling liquid. The required pressure exerted via the liquid reservoir serves to prevent cavitations and hence ensures the good working condition of the pump. Note that the pressure doesn’t influence the cooling capacity of the system.

A - Liquid reservoir B - DMD cooling block C - Heat exchanger D - Pump

Top off the coolant 1 - Release pressure by turning the knob until the membrane is at the bottom of the reservoir.

2 - Unscrew the main lid on top of the reservoir (A). 3 - Turn the bleed lid a little and take it out (B). Hold a cloth ready just in case there is still some pressure on the circuit and some fluid leaks out. A B

4 - Turn out the third lid using the back side of the main lid as a wrench (C & D). CD

5. Top off the reservoir with cooling liquid until the level is equal with the small hole in the reservoir. 6. Close the third lid again using the back side of the main lid. 7. If there are air bubbles in the reservoir, turn the knob to the left until the liquid level is equal again with the small hole in the reservoir. 8. Turn in the bleed lid. 9. Close the main lid. 10. Pressurize the circuit by turning the knob to the left until there is 2 cm free thread between the knob and the bottom of the reservoir. 5 10

Refreshing the Coolant Fluid 1. Follow the “Release the Pressure” procedure. 2. Interrupt the liquid cooling circuit by uncoupling the valved fitting of the circuit coming from the heat exchanger ( A ) A

3. Insert the free end of an extra tube with male connector into an empty bottle and connect the male connector with the uncoupled female connector. 4. Fill a plastic tube, which contains a female fitting, with cooling liquid. a) Connect a tube with female (F) fitting to the male (M) fitting of the syringe. b) Immerse the tube, and ensure the syringe piston is completely pressed in. c) Extract cooling liquid into the syringe by pulling out the piston. d) Disconnect the syringe from the filled tube, and leave the tube immersed in the bottle.

Caution: It’s important that there is no air inside the tube. The pump is not self priming and is only capable of pumping through very small volumes of air. 5. Push the female fitting of the filled tube onto the male fitting of the projector ( entrance of the liquid cooling circuit ). Ensure the inlet of the filled tube remains immersed in the bottle.

6. Activate the “Refill mode” in the “Service” menu of the projector. The pump starts and the cooling liquid in the bottle is sucked into the cooling circuit while the old liquid is pumped out of the circuit into the empty bottle. Note: Make sure that the end of the plastic tube remains immersed in the bottle with fresh cooling liquid. 7. Switch off the refill mode (set to no) after 2/3 of the fresh cooling liquid is sucked up into the circuit.

8. Reinstall the cooling circuit connections. Check if air is on top of the liquid in the reservoir. If so, open the reservoir and "Top off the reservoir with cooling liquid”. Fill up the reservoir again until the level is equal with the small hole in the reservoir and close the reservoir again. 9. Pressurize the circuit by turning the knob to the left until there is 2 cm free thread between the knob and the bottom of the reservoir.

Draining the Coolant Fluid 1. Follow the “Release the Pressure” procedure. 2. Interrupt the liquid cooling circuit by uncoupling the valved fitting of the circuit coming from the heat exchanger ( A ) A

Draining the Coolant 3. Connect an extra tube with female connector to the uncoupled male connector. Leave the tube end open. 4. Connect a syringe with the uncoupled tube. 1) Press the piston of the syringe in. 2) Connect the male connector of the syringe with the female connector of the uncoupled tube. 5. Extract cooling liquid into the syringe by pulling out the piston. 6. When the syringe is full, 1) Disconnect the syringe & connect the syringe to the extra tube in the bottle. 3) Press the piston inwards to empty the syringe.
