Mission / Purpose : To drive, generate content for and update the GALVmed website & innovate ICT techniques together with colleagues that help facilitate GALVmed’s objectives in “Protecting Livestock, Saving Human Life” Narrative of Role Impact The website is a shop window and the first point of contact many have with GALVmed. The post holder will ensure its accuracy and that it is very regularly updated. It is of key importance that our electronic presence is seen by stakeholders as a resource and one with which they choose to interact. For some of our Stakeholders, specialist Intranet sites may better meet their needs and the post holder will explore all the most appropriate outlets. The post will build and contribute content to our social networking sites and stimulate blogging. Livestock keepers’ stories give personality and voice to the statistics of poverty and the hope of interventions unleashing ingenuity. Stories have the power to make personal connections, to move and reach people and are advocacy tools. The post holder will ensure a regular supply of this material through the co-ordination of ‘story producers’ from or close to Livestock Keeper communities and may also originate material. Technological solutions, in particular SMS and mobile phone technologies have great communication potential in Sub-Saharan Africa. Working with colleagues, the post-holder will identify the most beneficial technologies for the end user and draw on best. The post will interface with Farm Africa and CAHNET’s activities in achieving the above objectives and share an awareness of potential collaborators.
