OFFICIAL MESSAGE “Communication within the organization flows effectively, not only within the headquarters, but also nationally. Technology has allowed us to work longer and harder.” -Kelly Hodges

OFFICIAL MESSAGE STRENGTHS Ability to use the world wide web, internet, and social networks. Ability to work from home, which cuts down on travel time and allows access to work effectively. Conduction of weekly staff meetings, update meetings, and planning/ project meetings.

OFFICIAL MESSAGE WEAKNESSES Lack of knowledge of the usefulness technology has. (There is a “generational division” amongst leaders and staff) Aggressively and actively using social networks to reach out to their targeted audiences and staff/ chapters. Not maximizing the App available for use.

INTERNAL MESSAGE Sisters Network Inc. is committed to increasing local and national attention to the devastating impact that breast cancer has in the African American community.

FINDINGS Although Sisters Network is moving forward with the advancement of technology to create a better working environment for their employees, they are not taking full advantage of technology to expand the mission and purpose of the organization, which is to the external population. The organization would strongly benefit from an in house training on actively using social media. This would allow everyone in the office to have the knowledge to post information on the social network sites. This cost effective decision would give the Sisters Network employees an opportunity to maintain their social media outlet without having to hire an outside specialist. Sisters Network can also reach out to the local colleges and universities to offer internships in exchange for credit hours during a semester, which would take place of hiring a full time employee. Also, allow the various chapters to create and manage their own social network accounts, but ensure that all guidelines are followed by national standards. Know who your audience is on the social networks and monitor the tracking of each account.

SWOT ANALYSIS Only national African American leading voice in breast cancer survivorship organization. Lack of social media connection. Expand in social media and target men as well. Many women think it’s only for African American women.

RECOMMENDATIONS Maximize the use of technology. Become educated on the capabilities, strengths, and downfall of social networks. Do not heavily rely on social networks. Target African American men within the company’s websites, brochures, and campaigns.
