May 2012 Updates: Learning Fun Outside School

Hahgoot enjoys the art gallery a lot!

Some of Hahgoot’s creations at the Art Box class, with Barbara White.

Hahgoot enjoyed her gymnastics class and slowly started to improve her skills. She was sick only for a couple of days (left, sipping soup with Alma) so she seems to be in very good health.

At the BJE lessons Hahgoot enthusiastically studied about Shavuot (an agricultural holiday, beginning of harvest time in Israel). She completed the workbook with care and also made a basket with the seven symbolic species, including 3D pop up flowers she made up herself!

Hahgoot made a plasticine basket with the seven species and decorated a garland

Wearing her Shavuot flowers garland I baked yummy cottage cheese muffins (one of the holiday’s traditions is eating dairy products and pastries) Hahgoot watched an Israeli TV program (Rinat and Yoyo, which is a bilingual show) about Shavuot, that included songs and baking a cheese cake from scratch!

Hahgoot has been reading independently in Hebrew, and reached level 3 easily. She took the opportunity to blow balloons when reading the classic “A Tale of Five Balloons”...

I tried to encourage her to read the Pilon magazine on her own, but that still hasn’t happened (top left). To speed up her maths ability with addition up to 20 Hahgoot got a new “Gold stickers” booklet she enjoyed (right). She also liked this Maths card game.

Hahgoot enjoyed reading this book, by a bank client of aunt Debbie’s, signed and dedicated personally by the author. Hahgoot has been enjoying a variety of assignments for homework, such as reading, writing, maths and choosing research topics (bottom right). In the next presentation: School is great in Term 2
