INITIAL IDEAS GEORGIA WILSON

AIM AND PURPOSE -The purpose of this slide show is to present three of my different music magazine ideas to an audience in order to help me decide which genre I would like to base my magazine on. -The aim of this presentation is to see what genre of music most people respond well to and to find ways to appeal to the target audience of that genre.

IDEA ONE CLASSIC ROCK AUDIENCE year olds, mostly aimed at men. HOUSE STYLE A lot of black and deep colours, a lighter colour to make things stand out. White title. AUDIENCE LIFESTYLE Most likely be students, studying music or creative subjects. Would play an instrument. Interested in going to rock shows and having a good time. Big personality. Would wear jeans and band tees. Most likely to having long hair and facial hair. A few tattoo. FEATURES OF THE MAGAZINE Upcoming artists. Upcoming gigs. Gigs reviews. Legends of rock. Interviews. A day in the life of… IMAGES TO INCLUDE Front cover: close up, maybe comical photo of a band member or musician. Contents page: Comical photo of a band member or someone big from the rock scene and maybe a rock logo. Double page spread: Whole band image, action shot, maybe playing their instruments.

IDEA TWO INDIE ROCK AUDIENCE years old, aimed at women and men. HOUSE STYLE Light colours, such as greens, yellows and oranges. Thin bold, tall fonts. Long/ mid shots to show clothing. IMAGES TO INCLUDE Front cover: known musician or band, long shot, strong or light hearted pose. Contents page: Band image, long shot and image of musician, close up. Logos such as peace signs. Double page spread: Band image, long shot or musician, mid- close up.

IDEA THREE HARDCORE/ METAL AUDIENCE years old, mostly male HOUSE STYLE A lot of blacks, reds and whites. Thin, broken, faded looking text. Old, gothic style writing. Sarcastic, humorous language style. Close up images. AUDIENCE LIFESTYLE Student. Love going to gigs. In a hardcore band. Fashion is hugely influenced by music. A bit rebellious and loves having fun. Has tattoos and piercings. FEATURES TO INCLUDE Gig reviews. A day in the life of… Interviews. Upcoming artists and gigs. IMAGES TO INCLUDE Front cover: Band member/ musician, close up or long, action shot. Contents page: Band member/ musician, mid shot. Double page spread: Band, long shot or musician long mid- shot.

FEEDBACK Rhiannon- I really like the hardcore idea as there is a lot of bands you could include. I think that you could have a lot of creative ideas for this magazine and you could definitely apply it to the target audience. Ellen- I really like the classic rock idea as you could apply it to the target audience easily. Lucy- I think the indie rock idea is the best as there is a niche in the market and the house style is more interesting than the others.

FINAL DECISION I have chosen to do metal/ hardcore as I like the idea of challenging other metal magazines. I think I would have really creative ideas for the house style and photography side of it. I could easily apply the magazine to the target audience through the use of colour and features.
