To essentially global… From hardly mobile To essentially global… How have the highway system and advances in communication technology changed the culture of the United States?

Motoring Through Math

Superhighway Vacation Using the “Electronic Superhighway,” students will select a vacation destination based on a predetermined budget issued to each group

Activities Employing Mapquest or similar technology, students will design a route for their trip with certain mathematical specifications -distance will be calculated -cost will be estimated depending on current gas prices -time will be determined

In selecting their destinations, students will be required to visit two historical sites and two places of interest to them -entrance fees will be researched Available lodging will be reserved along the way Cost of meals for the entire traveling party will be estimated Funds will be appropriated for souvenirs and miscellaneous expenses Final budget will be determined to ascertain if the trip is feasible

Student Product The student product will be a booklet that includes all assigned components of trip planning.
