2 Introduction You are a historian trying to investigate a friend’s ancestors who are original settlers of Louisiana’s Cajun country. Your job is to give your friend a brief historical overview of his/her ancestors. Explain to your friend why the Acadians settled in Louisiana, and where they originally came from. Also tell your friend about the culture of his/her ancestors, and how they used geographical features of Louisiana to survive. Can you explain why the Acadians settled and formed societies in specific areas of Louisiana? Can you analyze the causes, effects, or impact of the Acadian migration to Louisiana? Causes of the Acadian Exile Reasons for settling in Louisiana Explain how the Acadians adapted to Louisiana’s Geography Examine the Acadian culture in Louisiana Explain how the Acadians have affected Louisiana’s culture today Construct a map showing the routes the Acadians took on their exile from Nova Scotia to Louisiana. 5 Evaluation The students will be graded using a rubric for their prezis and map. The rubric for the prezi will focus on historical accurate and pertinent information and grammar. The rubric for the map will be based on historical accuracy and neatness. 6 Conclusion The goal of this assignment is for you to analyze the causes and effects of the Acadians settlements in Louisiana. Also to understand why and how the Acadians arrived in Louisiana.
