Long-term Goal Adopt 21st century teaching approaches to build deep conceptual understanding in mathematics.

Short-term Goals Encourage students to achieve learning goals by forming collaborative groups or peer. Cultivate the trend of discussion, sharing, listening when others are speaking and being responsible for one’s own learning.

Use of Bloom’s Taxonomy (The Incredible Teaching Tool) The hierarchy of Bloom's Taxonomy is the widely accepted framework through which all teachers should guide their students through the cognitive learning process Teachers choose the appropriate cognitive level for classroom objectives and a quality assessment is designed to measure how well those objectives have been met

Here are the 6 levels of Bloom's Taxonomy and the corresponding verb examples: Remembering: arrange, define, list, memorize, name, order, recognize, relate, recall, repeat, reproduce, state. Understanding: classify, describe, discuss, explain, express, identify, indicate, locate, recognize, report, restate, review, select, translate, Applying: apply, choose, demonstrate, dramatize, employ, illustrate, interpret, operate, practice, schedule, sketch, solve, use, write. Analyzing: analyze, appraise, calculate, categorize, compare, contrast, criticize, differentiate, discriminate, distinguish, examine, experiment, question, test. Evaluating: appraise, argue, assess, attach, choose compare, defend estimate, judge, predict, rate, core, select, support, value, evaluate Creating: arrange, assemble, collect, compose, construct, create, design, develop, formulate, manage, organize, plan, prepare, propose, set up, write..

Implementation of 21st century approaches TOPIC: Transformation 21st CENTURY APPROACHES: Multimedia 21st CENTURY SKILLS DEVELOPED: Higher Order thinking . PROBLEM that could arise: problem in grasping the concept immediately. SOLUTION: Presentation can be e-mailed to all the students and worksheets can be provided for practice.

Application of Bloom’s Taxonomy TOPIC: Angle properties of Circle. TEACHING METHODOLOGY: Remembering, Understanding and Applying. OBJECTIVE: To enable students to understand the conceptual knowledge of the properties. OUTCOME: Students will be able to evaluate by comparing the properties. View document Angle properties of circlet

Anticipated Challenges and their solution Problems Solution Students may not have scientific calculator They will be informed in advance about the scientific calculator requirement and its model no. which is used in CIE Parents may not allow their child to access internet at home or they might not have internet facility Students will be allowed to use internet in computer lab. under the vigilance of a teacher. Students may not be clear about the rules and regulations of Maths Quiz I will use word processing to design a pamphlet to give clear instructions. View pamphlet It might be difficult for me to organize quiz competition all alone I will take my colleagues help in assembling and monitoring students

Resources Mathematics resource books. www.funmaths.com www.math-drill.com Word processing, multimedia and spreadsheets application.

Acknowledgement I am thankful to INTEL teach program for designing a program for teachers to enhance their IT skills to meet the 21st century teaching approaches, and The City School to provide me this opportunity under the guidance of such a dedicated master trainers who had made it possible.

Conclusion Implementation of 21st century approaches is all about spreading enthusiasm for mathematics, strengthening mathematics intuition, improving analytical capabilities, fostering mathematical creativity and ingenuity and promoting sense of competition and achievement.
