The Hidden Decimals I found with my friends at THE MALL. Go On

Problem 1: Buying shoes I found the coolest shoes. They were $ I also found a pair for $14.95 that were OK. I had $20.00 cash I had to decide which to buy. $19.95 OR $14.95 Go On

What should I do? $19.95 $14.95 OR Click on the shoe you would buy.

I took the $19.95 shoes up to the counter. The cashier said, ”That will be $21.45” Shoot, I forgot about the sales tax! I ran out of the store embarrassed. Go On

Thinking about the sales tax,I knew I could only afford to buy the $14.95 shoes or wait to save up more money and buy the others later. But I wanted shoes today! I went to the counter and paid $16.15 including tax and happily left the store. Go On

Good thing I remembered the sales tax For sales tax info click here Go ON

Sales Tax Sales tax is an additional charge on purchases made imposed by the government. There are different rates of sales tax for food and nonfood items. Also the tax varies from state to state. Go ON

Sales Tax part 2 You need to know how to convert percents to decimals in order to multiply. For example the $ shoes will have a 7.5% sales tax in California. So I would multiply by.075 ( the decimal conversion of 7.5%) The answer would be $1.50 to the closest cent.I would add this to the price of the shoes for a grand total of $21.45 Go ON

Problem 2:The Restaurant We went to sit down and eat. The food was great, and our waiter was very nice The waiter brought our check. We got up to leave. My friend told me to leave a tip. What is a tip?I didn’t know. Go ON

What should I do? Ask my friend what a tip is and leave a tip. Just say Ok, ignore him, and leave. Click the button near your choice

I asked my friend what a tip was He said that it is a percentage of the price of the meal. Usually 15%. You give it to the waiter or waitress to say thank you for the good service. I left a 20% tip since our waiter was so nice. He thanked us as we left. Go ON To learn more about tips push here

I said, “OK” and left. My friend asked me how much I left and I said “What’s a tip?” He said “You are a jerk. You just stiffed the waiter. He has to claim 8% of his check. I know. My uncles a waiter. He just lost money by serving us. I felt horrible. Our waiter was great. To learn more about tips push here Go ON

Tips!!!! A tip, or gratuity, is a small amount of money given voluntarily as a token of appreciation for a service rendered. According to Webster's Dictionary, the word "tip" is also considered by many to be an acronym: T.I.P. - "To Insure Promptness" or "To Insure Prompt" service. We tip our servers as a way of thanking them for good service. We might also leave a very low tip, or no tip at all, as a signal that the service was terrible.Webster's Dictionary Go ON

Tips part 2 Most of us know that we should tip waiters at restaurants 15% to 20% of the bill. It's also important to note that restaurant servers pay taxes on 8% to 10% of their total receipts, not the actual amount of tips they earn. If you don't tip them, they are actually losing money because they're paying taxes based on the amount of your meal. Go ON

Tips part 3 You need to know how to change percents to decimals in order to multiply. For a 15% tip multiply the amount of your bill by.15 Example $30.00 x. 15 $4.50 would be your 15% tip Go ON
