2 Percent means per hundred. It is another way of saying, “out of one hundred.” Percent

3 Think of the last time you went to the store to buy an item. Every time you buy something you must pay a sales tax on the product. In order to find out how much sales tax you will pay you must find the percent of a number.

5 Why is computing a given percent of a whole number important? You will know exactly how much you will pay when you buy something. You will be prepared for tests like the CST. Are there other reasons why?
