Presentation transcript:

…where reading is the #1 joy and information is yours to discover!

Big Changes Are Coming  Easy-to-navigate sections  Series fiction arranged by name of series  Lessons to help you become independent users of the library  Fun books selected by you, the students!

Mrs. Peters – not the typical librarian n I want you to discuss books with each other and with me. n I want you to suggest great books for me to buy. n I want you to enjoy coming to the library. n I want you to ask me questions.

Rules, rules, rules! No surprises here… + Indoor voices + No running or rough-housing…this isn’t the playground. + Use shelf markers and put books back on shelf spine-side out. + Enjoy some quiet reading after check out.

Find It In Your Library

n Visit the library weekly (& on your own with teacher’s permission & a pass). n Check out your book(s) at the circulation desk using your library card. n Return books the following week (or sooner) to get new ones… n Or renew the book you haven’t finished (but don’t forget to bring it with you). n Keep the book safe and don’t lose it or it’ll cost you! 

Please take care of them!!!

Don’t leave books where babies & pets can ruin them by chewing, coloring, ripping, etc. Book Care Rule # 1

Book Care Rule # 2 Always carry your books in your backpack!

Book Care Rule # 3 Always use a bookmark. Please don’t “dog ear” the page or lay the book down on a table with pages open.

Book Care Rule # 4 Don’t read your book while eating or drinking!

Book Care Rule # 5 After eating or playing, be sure to clean your hands before picking up your book.

Book Care Rule # 6 Turn pages slowly so that you don’t tear them.

Most of all… Remember that this is YOUR library.

You’re welcome to visit often… to learn more about what interests you,

to discover wonderful new books that take you to new places and make your imagination soar, and

to cultivate a lifelong love of reading and to share the joy!
