Thurgood Marshall By Dylan Velez

Introduction  During the time Marshal received many death threats and was called a “Civil rights crusader” by many people  One of his schools

African-American  Howard university was the only one Thurgood was allowed into cause of his race.

Baltimore  Thurgood was born in Baltimore Maryland on July 2 nd 1986.

College  Thurgood attended the Lincoln university it was common for African Americans to attend cause there was good service no matter what race. hive/ucsd/thurgood_robinson.html

Death  Thurgood died at the age of 85 of old age.

Equality  Thurgood's biggest goal was for slave equality. He wanted all slaves to have rights.

Forcefully memorized  Thurgood was forced to memorize constitution as a punishment this happened often.

Great grandfather  Thurgood was named after his great grandfather but was originally named Thorogood. him him

High school  He graduated from Fredrick Douglass high school at age of 16.

Individually  For a long time in the naacp Thurgood was on his own he was forced into hiding and didn't take action until in the courthouse.

John f. Kennedy  Appointed Thurgood as a judge for U.S second circuit court of appeals where he’d serve for four years.

Klu-klux clan  The Klu-klux clan would often march down the street and people actually cheered for them.

Lawyer Thurgood’s biggest lawsuit was the brown vs. board of education he was nominated to the court by president Lyndon Johnson in

Murry vs. Pierson  His turning point as a lawyer Murry was denied access into law school cause of his race Thurgood won in January

NAACP  In 1934 he started working for the Baltimore branch of NAACP he fought his first case with his mentor.

Of the 32  Of the 32 cases Marshall argued he won 29.

Pastimes  Thurgood's favorite pastimes was to listen to cases at a local courthouse.

Quail  Marshalls wife’s favorite bird was the quail.

Retirement Retired from supreme court at age 83 and died two years laterRetired from supreme court at age 83 and died two years later

Summer job  Marshall was a railroad porter during the summer to pay for his tutoring lessons.

Underestimated  Many thought he wouldn’t win any cases and they didn’t care until had won the brown v. board of education.

Wife's death  Marshalls wife died in 1955 leaving Marshall on his own for 38 years

Years  Marshall served on the supreme court for 24 years

Zillions  many people would say that he won a zillion cases even though he only won 44.

Conclusion  Thurgood did many things for slave equality and earned the title “the civil rights mover” many never thought he could do it but TONS thought he could do it
