3 One: Who Am I? Paul Revere
Born in Boston, Mass. In 1734 Became a well known silversmith all over Boston. Was a colonist who believed in Independence from the British. Involved in politics and led the Sons of Liberty. Made a midnight horseback ride to warn the colonist that the British were coming.

4 Two: Who Am I? – Frederick Douglas
Born in 1818, in Tuckahoe, Maryland. He was a slave. It was against the law to teach a slave to read or write. He wanted to escape slavery. He borrowed papers, boarded a train dressed as a sailor and rode to New York. Wrote an autobiography about how bad slavery. He was friends with Abraham Lincoln. Known as a great speaker who spoke to end slavery.

5 Three: Who Am I? Susan B. Anthony
She was born in 1820. She was a Quaker. Fought to end slavery and for Woman Rights. Mainly known for Woman’s right to vote. Wrote a newspaper about equal rights called “The Revolution”. She died before women earned the right to vote. The 19th amendment was oassed giving all women the right to vote.

6 Four: Who Am I? Mary Bethune
Born in South Carolina in 1875. Fought for the acceptance of African Americans and women. She believed in tolerance. Her parents wanted her to have an education they did not have. She was a teacher after being told she could not be a missionary. She opened a school that became a college where girls would learn to read and write along with how to care for a home. When her school joined a boy’s college, she became the president.

7 Five: Who Am I? Was the only president to serve 4 terms in the U.S.
Led the U.S. through World Was II. Formed the New Deal. Born in 1882 in New York. He caught Polio while swimming. Declared war after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, HI. He died in 1945, while WWII was still going on.

8 Six: Who Am I? He lived for all Americans helping the poor, the unemployed, and the Americans who did not have equal rights. Was a president and fought for Civil Rights. Became president when J.F.K. was assassinated. He created Head Start and Job Corps to assist people and learn in order to acquire a career. He appointed Thurgood Marshall to become the first African American Supreme Court Justice.

9 Seven: Who Am I? Born in 1884, she suffered a difficult childhood.
Was sent to boarding school when she was 15. She traveled the country to help her husband with his presidency. She gave press conferences, speak on the nation’s radio, write a newspaper column and changed the way people viewed the First Lady. She helped create the United Nations and helped write the United Nation’s Declaration of Human Right’s,

10 Eight: Who Am I? He fought for equal treatment of all people.
Born in Maryland in 1908. Schools were still segregated when he went to school. He became the first African American Supreme Court Justice. He won the Brown v. Board of Education case. He was also a member of the NAACP.

11 Nine: Who Am I? Worked for equal working rights.
Was born in 1927 in Arizona. He worked on the family farm. His family lost the farm which then made him become a migrant worker. He did not have a good education from moving around so much and not being able to speak English. Helped farm workers stand up for their rights and formed a boycott to change working conditions.
