Foods Room Rules

Working in the Kitchen Never borrow ingredients or equipment from another kitchen. Always wash dishes in hot, soapy water. Use a tray to get supplies from the supply table. Bring your own measuring equipment and containers to put the ingredients in.

Working in the Kitchen Do not waste time talking to friends. Read the recipe all the way through before beginning. Dovetail. Put dishcloths and towels in the laundry before you leave.

Working in the Kitchen Fold aprons and put away unless they are dirty. Leaving items out in kitchens will result in a lose of 10 points from grade. Any throwing or flipping of food will result in a “0” for that lab. No sitting on counters or tables.

Personal Appearance Wear suitable clothing when preparing food. No coats or long-sleeved jackets are to worn in the kitchens. Wear an apron to protect your clothes. Hair longer than your shoulder should be pulled back.

Personal Appearance Wash your hands with soap and water and dry with a paper towel before cooking. Paper towels are only to be used for drying hands. Dishtowels are only to be used for drying dishes. Dishtowels should not be used to dry hands, flip, place over the shoulder, on books, the floor, etc.
