Animal Cruelty Solutions To: Leaders of the World From Lauren Hartnett

Animal cruelty issues Dear Leaders of the World, My name is Lauren Hartnett and I am doing a project on animal cruelty, Through this I have discovered that there are many animal related issues and I believe that action should be taken to stop animals from suffering.

As you can see from the graph on the previous slide only 31 percent of people who cause serious neglect to animals are arrested. I do not believe this should be true and as you’ll see on the next graph many people who abuse animals should definitely be stopped because they often commit other crimes as well.

Many animals are starved like this poor dog or get so overweight that they can’t move!

Or tested on like these puppies and rabbit!

Or stabbed like this poor bull will be!

Or kept inside cages like these animals!

Cases of animal cruelty You may think that your meat and dairy all come from a nice little farm in the country but sadly this is now very rare. A lot of food comes from factory farms where the hens are kept in tiny battery cages when they cannot move and most animals never see the sun. It has been proven that over 1100 are killed every hour in some of the larger factories, that means that each worker kills one animal every 3 seconds 1

Did you know that over 200 animals are killed every day. 2 To make one mink coat over 55 minks are killed. 3

If we keep going on killing the whales and other animals at the rate which we are the food chain will be effected and other animals will not be able to find food so the will die and then the animals who feed of them will die and so on. 4

Around the waters of the French controlled Reunion Island fisher men have been caught using live dogs and cats as shark bait, a hook is inserted through the nose or leg and then they are dragged behind a boat where they are eaten alive by sharks. 5

Also in Japan they have bear parks where over 800 bears are kept and forced to preform circus tricks and are enclosed in tiny concrete cages where visitors are told to throw scraps to the bears which cause terrible fights to break out amongst the bears as in the wild they live solitary life’s and are not used to sharing. 6

. At this moment Bali’s dogs are dying most through the practise of Strychnine poison, the animals are alive and fully conscious while this is being injected and die from suffocation. Over 90% of these dogs are loved family pets. 7

Solutions I believe that people should definitely should be arrested if they harm animals and that the penalties should be much higher then they currently are.

More Solutions Many organisations are helping animals and I believe the government should donate more money to charities ad organisations helping animals such as the RSPCA, Lost Dogs Home, Lort Smith Animal Hospital, OCPA, SPCA, PETA, WSPA, WWF, IAR, Blue Cross and many others.

Even more solutions I believe animal testing should be banned but we currently relay on it for the safety of many people, Since animal testing cannot be stopped I think how much testing companies do should be monitored and that the tests should be completely humane.

More and more solutions Since a lot of animals are harmed because of the fact that in poorer countries people do not have enough money to take the animals to the vet or buy the proper equipment I think that equipment, education and money should be given to these people.
