The actual number of animal abuse cases is unknown because most are not reported, but the ones that are reported reach to over 1,000 in just one year. http://www.pet-abuse.com/pages/cruelty_database/statistics/yearly_animal_abuse_report.php This site gives you the number of reported abuse cases for the given year and state.

As these numbers grow so does the intensity of the cruel action inflicted on the helpless animals…

Puppy Mills Puppy Mills are one of the leading offenders of animal cruelty. The mill is used to breed large amounts of purebred dogs and sell them to pet stores around the country, through the Internet and newspaper ads, and even directly from the mill. Its very dangerous for the puppies born here and the females that gave birth to them because they are not taken care of well enough, they are deprived of food, veterinary care and human interaction. As the wait for a home carry’s on, the puppies can go insane from being trapped in a cage, cut and break their legs through the open cage bottom and get an infection which could lead to death, or die of starvation. More than Two Million puppies are born in Puppy Mills annually just in the United States.

Animal Abuse Right Around the Corner In Philadelphia, a 19-year-old man, James Davis, was arrested for covering a kitten with duct tape from neck to tail after finding her wandering in his yard. Luckily, the kitten was rescued before she was really harmed, but had to be sedated while the tape was cut off her fur. The teen faces up to two years in jail and a minimum fine of $1,000 if accused. Also in Philly, 10-15 teenaged boys decided to beat and set fire to a stray kitten they found in an alley. Nineteen-year- old, Morrison saw the kitten and began pelting it with rocks, picked him up by his fur and lit the 6-week-old kitten on fire with a lighter. Although the cat, nicknamed Cuddles by his rescuer, was taken care of by vets, he could not be saved. Morrison is in prison with a $5000 dollar bail while the others say they were shocked by the incident.

This problem is growing fast, but there is something you can do about it! ♥ There are numerous organizations you can get involved with and either help them with rescue missions by donating your time or donate a few dollars each month; every little bit helps. ♥ Instead of buying puppies that came from a mill and supporting their system, adopt a loving animal from your local shelter or rescue center. ♥ And the most important thing you can do, is love your pet!
