1 transforming concerns into action
Letters from some RRUUC K-5th Graders

2 Dear Farmers, Why do your raise chickens in cages? Chickens should be raised outside, not in a metal box. I mean how would you feel if you were put in a metal cage and raised only for your product and not loved or free? You may notice that your eggs are being bought less and less? It’s because some people don’t appreciate how you raise your poor chickens in cages instead of free range —a boycott in the making. Change your ways, and let your chickens be free! And you’ll make more money. Thank you for your time, Realizations of a child* Reila, 8 yrs Better for chickens!

3 I think homeless people should have as much happiness as us.
Dear Committees, I believe we should donate stuff that we have and homeless people don’t. I think homeless people should have as much happiness as us. ADDY

4 Dear Mr. Trump, Please stop sending our men and women in uniform to the border. I understand that you are trying to protect us but sending that many to stop them and most of them are just trying to get a better life. Please stop. Bobby, Bethesda KEEP US TOGETHER

5 Dear Member of Congress,
I am concerned about homelessness — because I think you should provide more shelters for homeless and more places for homeless to go. Josie

6 Dear Member of Congress,
I am concerned about all the people that are homeless. There are many people in the United States that do not have good food and have to take things out of the trash to eat. Then they might get sick, since they have no money to pay for healthcare they cannot get better. Most of them are do not have many clothes. There are many organizations to help the homeless but they do not have enough money to help. People give money to the organizations but they do not have enough money to help ever. Could you try to help these organizations and help end poverty? Sincerely, Alexandra

7 Dear Member of Congress,
I am concerned about homelessness and the homeless people. Please provide more funding to homeless citizens that are not fortunate enough with enough money for their needs such as food. It would also be appreciated if you supply them with shelter.

8 Dear Whom It May Concern,
I feel like in the Philippines there are too many stray animals by the street and some ideas to raise money are.... other countries can donate money for stray animals; give surgery so they cannot have babies; build shelters for strays. Love, Vela Dale Pascual

10 Dear President Trump, We would change the rules so everybody is the same as you. From Tamsyn

11 Dear Member of Congress,
I am writing because of homelessness. I think that you should lower the prices on land because homeless people don’t have alot of money for the land and don’t have shelters. Like if it rains or snows or is just really cold they don’t have money to have those things. Thank you. Isabel. HELP!

12 Dear Member of Congress,
My concern of immigration. Not enough families are able to cross the border without getting separated. Please do something about it. Signed, Enso Chang

13 Dear Sir or Madam, I like to breathe! I think you should stop breathing trash and think of new ideas! I am writing this letter because I think air pollution is a bad thing. I think it makes people sick and makes earth really bad. From, David.

14 Dear Member of Congress,
I am writing to you today because I am concerned about immigration laws and conditions. I don’t think that what our president has been talking about is true, because he has separated many families and made many people very sad (including me.) My solution to this is to create better systems for people immigrating from the dangerous places around the world, and to create much better policies. I don’t think that this is fair for any body and I would like to change this. From Oliva PEACE ON EARTH

15 Dear Mayor Bowser, I am worried about homelessness. It’s cold for them and they have almost no food and clean water. So do something about it now! From Sarah We Are=

16 Dear EPA, We think that water pollution is bad. Trash is bad and it’s getting so bad that the fish are dying. We can feel the trash on our feet when we swim. On an island there are 600,000 water bottles sitting on a beach. Jake

17 Dear Congress, No Violence. Violence is very bad. Eliose

18 Dear President Trump, We would like to change the laws so we are all equal.
