Presentation transcript:

Overseas Travel and Insurance The School takes the safety of all its staff seriously.  This includes staff travelling, or based outside London.  All staff travelling on behalf of LSHTM for the first time are required to complete the on-line Security Awareness e-learning course before they travel. A copy of the completion certificate should be lodged with the LSHTM Insurance office. Failure to submit a travel approval request and receive confirmation of approval prior to travel will be reported to the relevant line manager. Where the travel includes a country or region covered by an FCO advisory, it will be considered a disciplinary matter and will be taken through due process.

Mobile Phones Not all mobile phone networks have inter-connect agreements worldwide. Some countries have a voice-only mobile network, with no data capability, and very few landlines. You must make sure that your phone and network will be suitable for the country and areas where you will be visiting. If you opt to use a local sim card, purchased i-country, you must be aware of the limitations of the service provided. We are aware that SIM cards in Tanzania, Uganda & Ethiopia, for example, do not permit calls to be made outside of their own country.

Visas The rules relating to which countries require visas and the suitability of different types of visas are complex and applications can be slow! Good starting points for help are the FCO and AIG websites. There is also the Project Visa website – www.projectvisa.com – but note that this is not a UK website.
