6 Emergency Medical Expenses/Repatriation
Really Important! Call 24 hour Emergency Medical Helpline prior to seeking medical treatment. Failure to call them could invalidate your insurance. Where possible can arrange hospital to bill insurers direct – no nasty bills. Certain countries (e.g. US) they negotiate better prices and can issue recognised payment guarantees. Co-ordinate care to ensure you get best possible treatment. Second Opinion. Case study – Air ambulance from Grand Cayman to Miami. £85,000 bill!

7 How to contact the Assistance Helpline? ….

8 The RSA Travel Assistance App can be downloaded onto your smart phone from the Apple App store or Google Play store. Policy number RTT306251

9 Other considerations Exclude journeys if travelling against medical advice Limited capabilities in some areas – Check the country medical information on the “App” for further guidance. Don’t forgot your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) …… Although be careful about BREXIT uncertainties!

10 Cancellation/Curtailment
Cover if a trip has to be cancelled or cut short as a direct result of a cause which is outside your control. Exclude failure of airline/events known about/disinclination to travel. (ABTA/ATOL) Your responsibility to have correct travel documentation. Visa/passport. Allow sufficient time… E.g – accident or illness just before due to leave UK.

11 Legal Expenses Legal costs to defend you against allegations you negligently caused injury or property damage to a third party. E.g. split cup of coffee. Excludes criminal or deliberate acts.

12 Personal Effects/money
Personal belongings Emergency replacement of visa, passport etc Must report to police within 48 hours. Property irregularity report from airline Be vigilant and don’t display obvious signs of wealth.
