Employees & students travelling outside the UK on College business Spouses and dependent children. 7 days’ private holiday time. Lost baggage/personal effects. Travel cancellation/curtailment/delay. Lump-sum personal accident benefit if permanent disability accident (as defined) Personal liability

4 © Imperial College LondonPage 4 What is NOT covered Routine prescriptions, medical or dental consultations Driving Injuries arising from vehicle incidents Non personal items e.g. lab equipment Items over £5,000.00* Travellers aged over 80* Those travelling to ‘disturbed areas’, or remote areas where rescue/medical treatment will be difficult* Abroad for more than 12 months* *Contact Insurance Manager prior to any travel.

5 © Imperial College LondonPage 5 What do you get Lump-sum personal accident benefit if permanent disability accident (as defined) whilst on College business. £5,000,000 personal liability cover Up to £5,000.00 for loss of personal items less £35.00 excess.

6 © Imperial College LondonPage 6 What do I do before travelling Obtain and carry a copy of AIG Assist cover note. Check College ‘disturbed areas’ list on Spectrum and FCO web pages. Contact Insurance Manager prior to any travel to disturbed or hazardous areas. Hard copy AIG travel packs may be obtained from Occupational Health. For EEA travel, obtain an ‘EHIC’ (formerly ‘E111’) card. Available free from DoH Website or in person at UK Post Office branches. Leave non essential valuables at home Take reasonable steps to minimise losses Policy applies automatically to most work related OS travel

7 © Imperial College LondonPage 7 If something goes wrong Less that £1000.00 (where possible) pay on-the-spot and reclaim via the College Insurance Manager. Over £1000.00 contact AIG Assist. Refer to policy number and 24-hour assistance line on cover note. Obtain as much documentary evidence as possible to support your claim. The College Insurance Manager must be notified of all claims under the College policy, including those reported to AIG direct. Explore other compensation routes e.g. Airlines Try to confirm all amounts payable and billing arrangements prior to leaving hospital,
