3 Mitigation Steps  Register your international travel with ORM  Consider supplemental travel insurance  Have pre-defined departmental procedures in place  Engage your travelers in pre-trip safety planning  Provide pre-departure information and risk assessments 3

6 Enroll in STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program) STEP is a service of the Bureau of Consular Affairs, US Department of State  It is FREE  Provides information about safety conditions in your destination country 6

9 UO Supplemental International Travel Insurance When “study abroad insurance” is highly recommended: –Traveling with students –Concerns about destination (natural disaster, security) –Medical concerns/expenses (expenses may be paid up front by this insurer)  Economical ($1.91 per day/1 week minimum) 9
