The Creative Process step-by-step

1.Write down the art assignment or problem. Example: Create an artwork that is based on the issue of electronic media.

2. Deconstruct the problem (make a mind map) Example: electronic media - free associate, name, list, connect anything you can to the issue of electronic media. Branch out and explore the issue.

3. Choose an idea/concept from your mind map to focus on for your artwork.

4. Now brainstorm 10 ways that you could express this idea. You can use any media (art material).

5. Streamline. Pick your best idea and refine your thinking about it. Come up with many versions and adaptations of this idea.

6. Degree of finish. How are you going to create, finish & present this so it looks smart & professional?

7. Artist Statement Concisely explain what you did, how you made it and what it means.
