3 US DEPARTMENT OF LABOR ETA  ETA oversees workforce development programs nationwide – the public workforce system – America’s Job Centers  ETA formula funding: allocations to State Workforce Agencies in accordance with State Plans (over $4.5 billion in Region 1)  Competitively awarded grants (1 to 4 years) to create, expand, or test innovative workforce models (200 grants totaling over $640 million in Region 1)  ETA National Office awards funding and policy making, Regional Offices perform Oversight and Grants Management

10 DOL Center for Workforce and Industry Partnerships (CWIP)  Interagency effort to advance and increase numbers of high quality job driven workforce development partnerships Outreach and convene Broker to assist organizations and consortia Engage government and non government partners, provide TA DOL web portal – coming soon

11 Sector Strategies  Regional industry focused strategies to building skilled workforce (align resources, address employer needs)  Next Gen: Partnerships of employers within critical industries convening Department Education, Economic Development, Workforce Systems, CBOs, others to ID and meet workforce needs of that industry within a regional labor market.  Convening role critical for these partnerships - Most appropriate party to play this role varies by regional area or community.  Long Term Partnerships/Undertaking
