Mission Overview  The Balloon Sat Flight Club shall ascend to an altitude of 30 kilometers in order to: Image the curvature of the earth and the celestial sky in the daylight Measure the light intensity as a function of altitudes.

Mission Purpose  The team shall image the curvature of the earth and the celestial sky in order to demonstrate the capacities of high altitude imaging.  The team shall measure light intensity as a function of altitude to determine whether there is a discontinuity at the flight level of commercial aircraft. troposphere and the surface of the earth. Search for a correlation between commercial aviation and global warming, which is known to be caused by increased light intensity.

Design: Hardware  Foam Core- lightweight outer layer  Thermal Sheets- gold colored foil to assist in overcoming the subzero temperatures  Hobo Data Logger- 4 channel data collection and processing system to perform the science mission during the flight.  External/Internal Temperature Probe- To take internal and external temperature readings during flight  Cannon Digital Camera- Will be used to image the curvature of the earth  Heating System- To keep the payload above 0 degrees Celsius  Timing Circuit- Circuit that commands camera to take pictures  Batteries- Powers satellite  Solar Panel- The solar panel is a sheet of solar cells that attaches to the outside of the satellite in order to measure the voltage created by the varying intensities of light as a function of altitude. The voltage data can be interpreted as a measure of light intensity.

Biggest Worries  Biggest Worries… Hobo Data Logger will not take complex enough data for light intensity science experiment. Solar Panels will malfunction, become detached, or break Digital Camera will not work at altitude
