2 Mission Overview The Balloon Sat Project Monstar primary mission goal is to take a panoramic picture of the Earth from an altitude of 30km, and to determine at which altitude stars are visible. The camera will rotate naturally in the x plane. The camera will spin in the y plane by assistance of two camera tilt servos. Simultaneously taking temp, humidity, attitude, and pressure data.

3 Design The structure will be a cube with a partially exposed front, by which the camera will be attached and be able to rotate. (i.e. U-shaped box) The camera will be attached by horizontal rods supported by a vertical support rod with the servo attached to the horizontal rod to rotate the camera. The balloon sat will be created out of foam core, and the camera will be surrounded by Styrofoam foam and a heater for insulation. The balloon sat components will be powered by batteries and by multiple solar panels attached to the sides.

10 Biggest Worries The servo motors we have been looking at using have a functionality between -10°C and 50°C The servo motors might have to be in constant spin in one direction instead of turning 180° and go back because of the amount of torque put on the motors. The camera will be outside the main structure of the balloon sat, thus will require great amounts of insulation and heating. Condensation issues on the camera since it is outside of the balloon sat.
