Presentation transcript:

 Personal Development Plans are written by individuals to identify how they can improve their chance of success. (These often relate to aims and objectives)  They are referred to over time (so they are like a diary/journal and you should refer back to PDP’s regularly – why not put a regular reminder on your calendar/in your planner to check and update your PDP)  Targets can be based on previous work, such as your skills audit, and also the skills you have identified that you need to succeed.

This is the first lesson where all learning outcomes are covered, so there are only a few tasks but lots of time to complete them

TargetWhat actions will be taken? Who is involved? By when?Resources required? How will I measure Achievement? Has this been achieved? To manage my time effectively Write lists of what I need to achieve, with deadlines. Write down how long I think each task will take. Plan in time to complete these tasks. Myself, my group members Lists written at the start of each half term, checked off after each task Pen Paper Laptop Phone for deadline reminders At the end of half term I will have met all my deadlines

.  Begin to create a draft personal development plan, you could use one of your A-Level/BTEC programmes or one of your hobbies. (Think what you have achieved since you started the course and write in the past, this isn’t the best approach to a PDP but it will work for this draft until you get the hang of writing PDP’s properly).  You could look back at your skills audit (or do it again) to help you set targets relating to skills.

 You will now carousel around the classroom to look at each other’s PDP’s. You may be asked to provide verbal or written feedback on what other people have written so be prepared to look and read through the work carefully.

Watch the YouTube video and make personal notes about personal development plans. You may wish to change the headings on the template or create your own template.

 Find a partner and highlight a problem within the school community. e.g. Canteen, mentoring, reading skills, recycling, movement around the site, bullying, car parking  Discuss what would be included within a PDP to sort out this problem and make better improvements and/or progress.  Your teacher may need to hear brief feedback on this from you and your partner as an exit pass.
