Question & Hypothesis Question: Does the shape of an ice cube affect how quickly it melt. Hypothesis: The shape of an object will affect how quickly it melts

Research Water is the only liquid that expands when it freezes Water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius The surface area of an ice cube affects how fast it melts

Materials and Procedure Materials: Metric measuring cup, sphere form, cube form and disk form, thermometer, metric ruler, freezer, wire rack, digital watch and camera. Procedure Fill each form with 100ml of water Freeze overnight Place frozen shapes on drying rack and measure the thickness of each Measure the thickness of each shape every 15 minutes Measure the temperature of the room and the ice cubes Note which shape melts the fastest

Conclusion My hypothesis was that the shape of an ice cube affects how quickly it will melt. In my experiment I found out that a thin disk melts faster than a cube or a sphere. My hypothesis was correct.
