What minerals make ice melt the fastest?

3. Background
The reason I picked this project is because ice melts fast and I wanted to see what melts ice faster because you have some of the mineral in drinks we drink.

4. Hypothesis
If I put the ice in all the minerals then the table salt will melt it faster.

5. Variables Independent: Different minerals
Dependent: Time it takes ice to melt.
Controlled: Ice cube size, mineral amount, materials used to hold the ice

Pepper
Cups
Timer
Ice

7. Procedures Gather Minerals Get 3 of the same cups
Put the same amount of mineral in each cup
Put a ice cube in cup and time
Repeat step 4, 3 more times with other minerals

10. Conclusion
The question was what makes ice melt faster out of salt,pepper, and sugar. So I put ¼ a cup of all minerals in 3 same size small bowls and had a timer. I put one ice cube in one bowl and timed it and then did the others my hypothesis was that the salt would melt the ice the fastest then the other minerals. After I got done timing them the sugar melted the ice the fastest out of the pepper, salt, and sugar.If I had to do this experiment again I would mix all the mineral with hot water so it would get done quicker.
