Objectives: what graduates can do after several years. Most successful measures: IAB input (revise objectives) and alumni surveys (measure achievement of objectives). –COE carries out surveys.

CISE IAB MeetingOctober 25, 20076/9 New Program Objectives (following lengthy process ) A graduate of the University of Florida Computer Engineering Program should have a successful career in computer engineering or a related field, and within three to five years, should: 1.Excel in a career utilizing their education in Computer Engineering; 2.Continue to enhance their knowledge; 3.Be effective in multidisciplinary and diverse professional environments; 4.Provide leadership and demonstrate good citizenship.

Reply: only as a special topics course. Update: no change. 3.Question: course on Human-Computer Interaction ? Reply: only as Special Topics. Update: no change (CIS-4930 Fall 07, Dr. Lok) 4.Question: OO programming as a paradigm, rather than a PL ? Reply: emphasize the paradigm. Update: CIS Fall 07: Design Patterns: OOP.

Various recommendations: first semester to concentrate on design, second semester on implementation; opt-out option for students with design experience; peer reviews. Update: not yet implemented. (COE considering College-wide mandate of 2- semester capstone course).
