3 Assessment data Course database, graduating seniors exit surveys and interviews, capstone students survey, and focus group report. IAB involved directly in CMPE curriculum development, for EE more indirect discussions

4 A few conclusions Have to examine and assess objectives Motion: increase number of ECE 411 credits to 4 and use it to cover the material related to missing outcomes (j) “contemporary issues” and h) “have the broad education...”) themes: labs, internships, soft-skills, faculty involvement, tracks and specific courses

5 Assessment plan 08/09 1.continue with course assessment data collection, but faculty buy- in is still a big issue. 2.examine our objectives  need another round of alumni and employer surveys (or ??). 3.outcome survey from alumni and some industry representatives, e.g. Capstone leaders 4.do the capstone students and industry leaders survey this and every subsequent year. 5.Expand our IAB with more industry and other representatives and discuss new curriculum, outcomes and objectives. 6.if our experiment with faculty assessment of capstones is successful extend it to subsequent years. 7.since this is a half-way point, do a “dry run” in terms of collecting various items that are needed for visit; same for putting together a skeleton of a self-study report? (This is a lot of work …) 8.devise assessment specifically for the lab sections

Sign up for TWiki on Assessment Provide feedback on the proposals Give us names and contact info of potential “constituents” (industry, alumni, …) Read focus group report, visit web site with survey results ( abet.cecs.pdx.edu/ece ) and give feedback; take these into account in your course and curriculum change proposals Get your capstone students to fill in the survey Need volunteers for capstone assessment this year
