Lets look at the World’s biomes! LO: To understand what a biome is. To describe the different biomes.

What is a biome? Scientists divide the world into large natural areas called biomes. Each biome is known for certain kinds of plants and animals. But what’s really at the heart of a biome is its climate. What does climate mean?

Why is climate important? Climate is important because it determines the types of plants and animals—the ecosystem—that can survive in a biome.

Can polar bears survive in the Sahara desert?

We are going to focus on six biomes today Tundra Tiaga Deciduous forest Rainforest Desert Savanna

Poster Each group is going to have one biome to focus on. Your job is to read the information given to you to create a poster to explain what is special about your biome.

Plenary Can you tell your partner what a biome is? Can you describe one biome to your partner?
