“I like a teacher who gives you something to take home to think about besides homework.” ~Lily Tomlin as "Edith Ann“ This quote talks about teachers not only teaching school lessons, but also lessons about life. This quote shows how much of an impact teachers really could have on students. I became interested in the career field while doing an activity in 5 th grade, where we helped the kindergarteners learn the letters. In order to get a better understanding of my chosen career field as a teacher I will be researching; responsibilities, working conditions, education, job outlook, and earnings.

 Work with individual students to challenge them, to improve their abilities, and to work on their weaknesses  Plan lessons in the subjects they teach, such as biology or history  Assess students to evaluate their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses  Teach students as an entire class or in small groups  Prepare students for standardized tests required by the state

 Mental Create worksheets Create lesson problems Explain  Indoor: in classroom  7 hours

 Bachelor’s degree  Michigan University  Teacher Cadet Lakeview (off campus)

 Employment rate 6%  Slower than average  Rising  Michigan  Open to different school districts

 Median salary: $55, 050  Travel to Spain: $4,650 +  Travel to Hawaii: $1,100 +  New Year’s Eve in New York: $200 +

Lawyer  Advise and represent clients in courts, before government agencies, and in private legal matters  Doctoral or professional degree  Employment rate 10%  Median Salary: $113,530

After learning all of this, I am not 100% sure if I want to be a teacher. Being in a school all of my life is not something that excites me. I would also like a bigger salary. Although, watching students grow and improve each day and building relationships with each one of them excites me. My overall learning experience is I am not completely sure if this is the career I want to be in. I need to continue to look at my options and go from there.
