HEALTHY Relationships

COMMUNICATION talking and listening to one another

TRUST being able to share thoughts and feelings comfortably

RESPECT Treating the other person how you would want to be treated

Acceptance liking the person for who they are

Self-esteem boosting being with that person makes you feel good about yourself

HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS People in a healthy relationship want what is best for each other; they do not hurt one another.

UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS Characteristics of an unhealthy relationship include:

Abusive physically and emotionally

Selfish One person is only in the relationship to get something from it

Disrespectful one person intentionally causes harm or pain to the other person through actions

Jealousy

Pressure one person feels as though they need to act a certain way or be someone that he/she is not

Self-Esteem Lowering one person feels badly about himself as a result of other persons actions or words.

What happens if the relationship becomes unhealthy? Best to end the relationship to ensure physical and emotional health. Ending the relationship can occur by stopping communication or telling the person that you do not wish to have any further contact with them.
