 Islam is a monotheistic religion which means they worship many gods.  The religion was developed in the Middle East  Islam means “surrender” or “submission”(patheos.com)  The Quran is the sacred text of the Islamic religion

 Islam is the belief that Allah is one of the true gods. It is similar as god in Christianity but only one god worshiped. Allah was the most respected.  Allah has several requirements to worship him. The people have to follow these worship guides or they are in big trouble.  These guides are called the Five Pillars (religion of Islam)

 Five Pillars  1. Faith  You must have faith in Allah  2. Prayer  Establish daily prayers  3. The ‘Zakat’  Give to poor  4. Fast  Self-purification through fasting  5.Pilgrimage  To Makkah for those able (religion of Islam)

 Mecca is the historical and geographical epicenter of Islam.  All Muslims must take themselves toward Kaaba in Mecca five times a day.  Every Muslim must go to Mecca  The Kaaba is located in the center of the earth and was the first temple on earth.  This is also part of the Five Pillars (Islamic history)

 There were also different divisons of groups of people.  They are known as the Sunni and Shia.  The Sunni is the largest sect, believe caliph political only and chosen by ability  The Shia is the smaller sect and they believe caliph spiritual and political, chosen by lineage (haqislam)

 They expanded their military to Arabia, Persia, and North America. They treated unbelievers well but were forced to pay military taxes for military protection.(political islam)

 The conflict between sunni and shia muslims has been going on for decades.  Sunni’s critized Mohammed and Sunni’s is the perfect example of Muhammed’s life with all of the practices and worships they perform.  Sunni’s and Shia fight because of the different beliefs of their gods and has continued for years. (Islamic History)

 Mohammed divided the community into followers of Islam and followers of Native Arabic texts such as the Quran. He was the one the adopted Jewish stories and he proved his prophecy and spoke.  The Christian religions and Islam correspond to each other. (Islamic History)
