Presentation transcript:

Science Safety and Procedures Scientific Method

 Emergency safety equipment-equipment such as an eye/face wash, a fire blanket, and a fire extinguisher used to take care of an emergency situation

 Protective safety equipment-equipment, such as goggles and aprons, used for protection in an experiment

 Hypothesis-possible explanation for an observation that can be tested by scientific investigations

 Procedure-steps you will follow to do your investigation

 Inference-logical explanation of an observation that is drawn from prior knowledge or experience

 Variable-factor that can have more than one value

 Conclusions-describes the claims and evidence you used to determine whether your test supported your hypothesis

 Scientific Law-rule that describes a pattern in nature

 Scientific Theory-explanation of observations or events that is based on knowledge gained from many observations and investigations

 Theory-explanation of a statement that has been repeatedly proven valid over repeated experiments
