Ground water not for industrial use.

Approach 3. Market for efficiency and inclusion- PPP mode for O & M of water Supply Scheme. Promotion of Mass Awareness & Training Programmes on Rain Water Harvesting & Artificial Recharge to Ground Water through Govt. Agencies / NGO’s / VO’s / Educational Institutions / Industries / Individuals.

STATUS OF TUBEWELLS Year Total No of Running T/Wells Re-location of T/wells Rotten Riser Pipe Total Closed T/Wells Total No of T/Wells Total No of Running T/Wells

Tube-Well Density v/s Water Quality

Concern of future Drilled Tube Wells Regulate drilling of Tube Wells To shift from Ground Water to Surface Water More emphasis for construction of RWH / GWR Structure

Over Exploited Blocks ( )

Chemical contamination due to over exploitation of ground water Extraction of ground water leads to chemical contaminations Number of hand pumps/population ratio corroborates this like districts of Jamtara and Khunti Mineral rich areas like West Singhbhum also has contamination of iron on a large scale Regulation is required for extraction of ground water

Sustainability of Sources/Schemes There is urgent need take measures to check the receding ground water levels. Ground Water Structures and schemes will not only recharge the aquifers but also help to reduce the chemical contamination. Various other techniques are available for this, which will bring sustainability to the schemes.

Constraints of DWSD (We are not the Regulators) Drilling of Tube-wells- Water Resource Deptt. Pollution of Surface Water-Pollution Control Board. Encroachment (Building Bye Laws)- Urban Development Deptt.

Non Implementation of Water Acts Sec. 20- Giving direction to polluters. Sec.22- Testing of Water Samples. Sec.23- Power to inspect. Sec.33- Power to lodge complaint to CJM. OFFICER OF THE DEPTT SHOULD BE EMPOWERWED.
