Capacity building of the rural communities for better O&M and sustainability of WASH services.

Water Resource Management Elements Groundwater exploration using geophysical and hydro-geological method Undertaking water quality test Select and recommend water supply technology in line with the hydro- geological set up and terrain condition (tube well/dug well fitted with hand-pump, spring protection, pipe scheme etc) Advocating small scale irrigation scheme : dams, deviation bands to protect groundwater through aquifer recharge Selection of WP where there is no chance of surface contamination

10. Challenges Poor coordination at the national level between related stakeholders (PRRDs, DoE, NGOs) Lack of a decentralized MIS system for WASH at provincial level. Lack of information and awareness on Rural WASH policy and key sector documents at the provincial level Increasingly Ground water contamination, particularly in urban areas because of the absence of sewages system in big cities
