Renaissance New ideas and Inventions

Rebirth of Classical studies England was being ruled by Elizabeth I during the renaissance. People who lived in Italy during the 14 th century witnessed rebirth and considered it as a beginning of modern history. The idea began in northern Italy and later was spread throughout the Europe. [1] The word renaissance in French means rebirth, so this period was named as the RENAISSANCE

Humanism The term humanism was an idea discovered from the dark age. It was associated with the renaissance, as it gained more support during the renaissance The humanity idea approached the people to understand more about the world, life style of humans, other than focusing on God or nature. Humanists scholars engaged in teaching what Cicero had termed studia humanitatis

Francesco petrarca Francesco Petrarch was born in 1304 in Arezzo, Italy. Along with other humanist scholars, Petrarch in the lead was engaged in the recovery of classical texts. He discovered the lost manuscripts of Cicero throughout Europe. So he was known as the “Father of Humanism” the first modern poet.

“The Courtier” During Renaissance, another new idea emerged was “an individual’s role in a society”. Baldassare Castinglione, a scholar published “The Courtier” Was known as “the universal man” It became the handbook on how to be an ideal gentleman in the society. The courtier, in his view, should act with self-control and the dignified ease that comes from long experience of the world and training in a wide range of fields. [2] It introduced the humanistic outlook of the Italian Renaissance.

Niccolo Machiavelli Niccolo Machiavelli was an important person who represented the Renaissance being a famous humanist, philosopher and writer. He lived his life for politics People misunderstood his views on politics from his pamphlet named "The Prince". The Prince, a work of political philosophy illustrated about people who are naturally greedy, and amoral. He was given an unfair reputation as he was associated with corrupt and totalitarian government. [3] During the renaissance the prince was The guidebook on controlling power And gaining power.

Renaissance Science Humanist faith in classical scholarship led to the search for ancient texts and scientific knowledge. [4] Botany, zoology, magic, and astrology were developed during the period of Renaissance. Astronomy played a major role during Renaissance. Kepler refined the thought of astronomy. Galileo invented telescope.

Three city-states that were independent Milan Venice Florence The Medici family-established Florence as a major city-state in northern Italy. Cosimo de’ Medici-using their wealth and personal influence controlled the government Lorenzo de’ Medici his grandson dominated the city when Florence was the cultural center of Italy.

Printing books already was invented in china. Invented by Johannes Gutenberg in the 1450 [5] He was a German goldsmith and inventor know for the “Gutenberg press” He borrowed money from Fust to invent the printing press. Printing press also made rapid development in sciences, arts and religion through texts. Gutenberg's bible was the first book in Europe to be produced from a machine. Gutenberg's printing press worked by a hand press, in which ink was rolled over the raised surfaces of moveable hand-set block letters haled within a wooden form was then pressed against a sheet of paper. [5] Brought prices down of printing materials and made other materials available. Other printing technologies were made based on Gutenberg's machine. “without his invention, the protestant reformation would not have been possible.”

He wrote the divine comedy- it was a long poem, this poem is a memorial The tale of the poets journey through Hell, Purgatory and Heaven.[6] In Hell and Purgatory he is being guided by Vergil, and Through Heaven he’s guided by Beatrice. It was written in terza rima Some say that his work was a “great imagination.” Dante established Tuscan as the literary language of Italy.[6] before they used vernacular. Other works created La Vita Nuova [the new life] – The convivio – De Vulgare Eloquentia – on the rules for the Italian vernacular
