English II – 12/16/13 Today’s objectives: Review comma usage, demonstrate an understanding of colorism. Today’s agenda – Bell ringer: Complete p. 175 of the comma packet. Review lab rules: No eating/drinking, no headphones, keep your voice at a working volume. You will be given a productivity grade each day we are in the lab. If you finish your project early or are waiting on Ms. Robin or Mr. Cancro for help, please read an annotate the article about banning The Bluest Eye.

English II – 12/17/13 Today’s objectives: Review comma usage, demonstrate an understanding of colorism. Today’s agenda – Bell ringer: Complete p. 176 of the comma packet. Today, I will also be showing you how to log into PrepMe, which is an online program to help you practice and get ready for the ACT. I will pass you out instructions with your login information on it. Once you are logged in, please complete the diagnostic tests for English, reading, math, and science. Extra credit will be given to students who log on to PrepMe over break to complete lessons and quizzes.

English II – 12/18/13 Today’s objectives: Review comma usage, demonstrate an understanding of colorism. Today’s agenda – 1.Bell ringer: Complete p. 177 of the comma packet. 2.Share finalized colorism projects with Ms. Robin and Mr. Mathew by the end of the 3.Complete the four diagnostic tests (English, reading, science, and math) in PrepMe. Call Ms. Robin over when you are done to get your credit. Extra credit will be given to students who log on to PrepMe over break to complete lessons and quizzes.

The Colorism Project Remember we are working on final drafts of the projects – this will count as a 100 point project grade. STEP 1: Make sure you are sitting next to your group members. STEP 2: Decide if and which parts of each other’s projects you’ll combine. STEP 3: Edit for grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, etc. This will be a majority of your final grade since Mr. Mathew already graded you for content. STEP 4: Create a new page for your book about The Bluest Eye. It must be 4-5 sentences about the plot of the novel and the overarching themes. Remember: Your audience is elementary school students, so make sure you only include content which is appropriate. STEP 5: Have Mr. Cancro / Ms. Robin review your project when you think you are done and then re-share the “Google doc” when you are ready to be graded.
