What is a group? A collection of people who come together because they share something in common.

What is a team? A group of people who share a common name, mission, history, set of goals or objectives and expectations.

Characteristics Communication Goal specification Interdependence

Communication Interpersonal Active listening/reading Participation Encouragement Watch it! Shape it!

Goal specification Clearly define what outcomes the team wants to achieve. Be specific.

Interdependence Sink or swim together The outcome of a team is almost always better than that of an individual (sometimes called “synergy”)
