Suicide in the US 2 O 13.7 million children in the US have a mental health disorder O 2/3 of them are not getting help they need O Neglecting mental health can lead to serious life threatening consequences such as school failure, family conflicts, drug abuse, violence and suicide

Suicide in the US O Suicide is the third leading cause of death for youth ages O Suicide rates for ages have increased by 51% between 1981 and 2004 O Approximately 1 in 5 teenagers seriously consider suicide O 1 in 12 attempt suicide yearly in the US with 700,000 requiring medical attention 3

Thank you for being aware of students and friends around you and their mental, emotional and physical well-being. Never be afraid to refer someone to the counselor that you feel may be in danger of harming themselves or others.
