Congratulat ions! You’re a Flour Baby Parent

Flour Baby Rules You must care for babies from December 19th -22nd. Babies must be with you at all times! – If you have a function in which you cannot take your baby you must get a babysitter. You may not leave your baby at the sitter’s longer than 3 hours. Babies must go to school with you. – If you leave your baby at home you immediately fail this portion of the project…NO EXCEPTIONS! – If you go shopping your baby goes with you! The only time you may use a sitter is if you CANNOT take the baby. Embarrassment is not a reason to leave your baby with a sitter…tough it out! Parents, teachers, and your neighbors will be reporting you if they see you without your baby! If you do not have a valid reason (determined by Mrs. Walters) you will lose points each time you are reported! The babies need to be checked in Monday Morning before set 1 begins in the commons. If you do not check in 10 points will be deducted off your final score.

Flour Baby Rules continued You must care for your baby as if it is real. If you hurt your baby you will lose points. If an accident happens please let Mrs. Walters know immediately so she can determine if it is a little “boo- boo” or if your baby has died. – You may not tape your baby up if it has an accident you must take it to Mrs. Walters! – If your baby dies due to an accident you will have to write an 3 page research paper in place of caring for your baby about child abuse. You may not assassinate your baby or another baby! If you do you will automatically fail the entire project. There are no exceptions or excuses!

Your Baby Log Book Baby Schedule which includes: 1.When your baby will nap ( in your arms at least one during the day and at least one in the evening) 2.When your baby will eat (generally babies are hungry twice a day and once at night)…one feeding can occur during your lunch period…..the other must be fit in sometime before or after so that the baby doesn’t go longer than 5.5 hours without eating 3.When your baby will get a diaper change (it must happen at least twice a day and twice in the evening) 4.When your baby will be read, talked to, and played with…optional but recommended! 5. Finally, bath time

Your Flour Baby Book Be CREATIVE!! – Birth Certificate – Baby Sitting Log – Cost of a Baby – Pictures with Captions – Journal Entry for each day

Baby Beauty Pageant On Tuesday, December 20 th Set 3 and Set 6 On Wednesday, December 21 st Set 4 The Beauty Pageant winner will receive 20 points on their FINAL EXAM! – You will be judged by your peers on your Flour Baby Looks Creativity The Beauty Pageant winner will be announced on Thursday!

Final Instructions While this project needs to take place during the school day and in the evening when you go home…it is not designed to interfere with your learning and performance in other classes. LUHI faculty will be alerted to what is going on and while I will ask that you be able to bring your baby to VIRTUALLY ALL classes/activities (chorus, chapel, band, sports practice, etc.) you do not have the right to prevent teaching and learning from taking place. For example you can’t bring your baby into a class and place it squarely on your desk and invite distraction…..be sensible, be smart, and be selective about what you do and when you do it! Teachers have the right to ask you to suspend the flour baby experiment during their class and YOU MUST COMPLY IF THAT REQUEST IS MADE. If that throws off your schedule you will simply have to make up the time elsewhere and record the changes in your journal.
