TOBACCO FREE CAMPUS Employee Focus

2 DELL CONFIDENTIAL Tobacco Free Campus (TFC) Policy (Dell – US) In an effort to promote the health and welfare of employees and reduce costs, the use of all tobacco products on Dell property is prohibited. This policy shall apply to all individuals, (employees, contractors, visitors, assigned workers, etc), visiting or working at all Dell U.S. locations. NOTES:  “Dell property” shall refer to all company property, whether owned or leased, including office buildings, facilities, parking lots, and personal vehicles on Dell properties. This includes Dell Sponsored off- campus events.  This policy is applicable 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Dell’s Security team shall inform all contractors and visitors of the policy.  Local Leadership and Site Management Teams shall inform all employees and assigned workers of this policy.  The policy can be found on the Dell intranet under Americas HR Policies and will be shared with all individuals performing work on Dell premises. Why Tobacco Free?  Provide an environment supportive of health  Reduce Dell’s overall costs  Reduce negative impact on environment

Tobacco Free Campus (TFC) Employee Role 3  We encourage all employees to remind coworkers, assigned workers, and visitors of the policy politely and professionally. Example #1. If the person using a tobacco product appears to be unaware of Dell's Tobacco-Free Campus Policy, Dell employees can inform them of the policy, by saying something like… “You may not be aware, but effective January, 1, 2009, tobacco use is prohibited on Dell property whether owned or leased, including office buildings, facilities, parking lots, and personal vehicles on Dell properties.” *** Example #2. If the person continues to use tobacco on Dell's property, you can respectfully but firmly make one more try, saying something like… “Dell's Tobacco-Free Campus Policy applies to anyone who is on Dell property, we appreciate your compliance with Dell's Policies. Thank you.” *** ***Do not make additional attempts to enforce the policy. You may notify the security team in the Dell lobby of the location of the non-compliant participant. DELL CONFIDENTIAL

5 DELL CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEE FAQs Is this Dell playing “Big Brother”? No. Dell is not telling employees and/or visitors they cannot use tobacco products. Dell is saying that employees and/or visitors cannot use tobacco products at work or on Dell property. Dell is also providing assistance for those employees who choose to stop or reduce tobacco use in “their” attempt to lead a healthier lifestyle. Dell management has a responsibility to provide a safe environment for every one of its employees. By eliminating tobacco use on campus, all employees will be protected from secondhand smoke, a known carcinogen. Smoking bans do not take away individuals’ rights to smoke, but they eliminate smokers’ risks of harming others. Why have a “smoke-free/tobacco-free” environment? Dell is establishing a tobacco-free environment for the health of all employees. Secondhand smoke, also known as environmental tobacco smoke, is a Class A carcinogen. Its many detrimental effects on health are well established and include triggering asthma attacks, causing lung cancer, and causing cardiovascular and other lung diseases. Attempts to eradicate exposure to secondhand smoke through limiting smoking to enclosed spaces or outside entrance areas and sidewalks is ineffective because smoke can easily travel through open doors, through heating and air circulation vents. A tobacco-free work environment promotes wellness, and assists employees who are attempting to quit or reduce tobacco use. Additionally, eliminating smoking reduces safety hazards and develops a healthier, cleaner campus. Why should Dell be concerned about smoking? Dell provides its employees a safe and healthful environment. Research findings show that tobacco use in general, including smoking and breathing secondhand smoke, constitute a significant health hazard. In addition to causing direct health hazards, smoking contributes to costs in other ways, including potential fire damage, cleaning and maintenance costs, and costs associated with absenteeism, health care, and medical insurance. For several years, Dell has provided a Health Improvement/Wellness Program for its employees. Providing a smoke-free/tobacco-free campus is another example of Dell’s commitment to employee health and wellbeing. Why is Dell taking away my right to smoke? Dell is not taking away the right of employees or visitors right to use tobacco products or requiring them to stop using. Employees may continue with their choice to use tobacco but not on Dell property. Will there be cessation programs available for employees? Yes. Dell provides a free smoking cessation program with personalized coaching, tips and support, and a free three-month supply of generic Wellbutrin to help reduce cravings. Additionally, Dell provides up to $303 in your Health Rewards Account for participating in the program, which can be used toward approved quit aids, and the occupational health centers will provide “quit kits” as well as tips and encouragement. Can I smoke or use tobacco in my personal vehicle? Not while it is on Dell property (or being used on Dell business) Smoking in your car while parked on Dell property will be prohibited. What will happen if a person or group is discovered smoking? The process of achieving a smoke-free/tobacco-free environment takes time. Self-enforcement will become part of the norm. If you suspect violation of this or any other Dell policy, it is your responsibility to raise any concerns. You can bring them to the attention of your manager, other members of management, or the Dell security team. The success of Dell’s tobacco-free environment policy relies on the consideration and cooperation of smokers and non-smokers. What should I do if I see others violating the policy? Politely remind them of the policy. If you feel it appropriate, you may also inform your manager or your local Dell security team.
