 Template—a file that already contains the basic elements of a document, such as page and paragraph formatting, fonts, and text on which new documents are based.  You can customize the template to create a new document that is similar but slightly different. To create a template from the templates that come with Office, choose New from the Office Button and choose a Template and create it.

 Word contains many templates. ◦ You can use templates to create professional-looking documents quickly and easily.  Some are installed on your computer, and others are available on the Microsoft Office Online Web.  You can create a new document based on a template you design. Some examples are resumes, calendars, greeting cards, invitations, and more.  Templates have a.dotx extension.  Templates are great for items you want to be able to use over and over again such as a form, letterheads, and the such.

 Placeholders are the places that Word sets up for the user to enter their information when using a template.

 Style ◦ A style is a predefined set of formatting options that have been named and saved.  For example, a style named Heading could be Times New Roman, Bold, Italic and 14 pt. ◦ Character styles affect only selected text. ◦ Paragraph styles affect entire paragraphs.  Paragraph styles are formatting instructions applied to a paragraph.  They may include alignment, line spacing, paragraph spacing, indents and character formatting.

 Quick Styles ◦ Word comes with many built-in Quick Styles that can be applied to characters or paragraphs.  Themes ◦ A theme is a coordinated set of fonts, styles, and colors.

 The normal size for a business (long) envelope is #10 envelope.  Labels are a peel-off sticker that can go on an envelope. You can choose from many options such as Avery US Letter, ◦ They can be printed for one addressee, several addressees, or a full page for just one addressee.
