IEEE MEDIA INDEPENDENT HANDOVER DCN: Title: Utilizing terminal identifier to recognize the reserved resources Date Submitted: Feb, 07, 2006 Presented at IEEE session #13 in Denver Authors or Source(s): Zhuang Hongchneg, Yu Jin Abstract: This document proposes a method to associate the reserved resources with the corresponding terminal using terminal identifier.

Problems MIH_Handover_Prepare and MIH_Handover_Complete messages are generally used between old networks and new Suggested Network. In the current draft, there is no terminal identify in these messages, so the networks can not know which of terminals MIH services are for.
Solution In section , MIH_Handover_Prepare.request, is modified as follows: MIH_Handover_Prepare.request ( SourceIdentifier, DestinationIdentifier, CurrentLinkIdentifier, MACMobileTerminal, QueryResourceList, )
Solution NameTypeValid rangeDescription Source IdentifierIdentifierAny valid individual or group identifier The identifier of entity where the request is initiated. This field may be optionally left empty if the command is local. Destination IdentifierIdentifierMIH_LOCAL, MIH_REMOTE The destination identifier of request or response. This is the identifier of local or peer MIH Function. CurrentLinkIdentifierNetworkIdentifier. Can be one of different 802 and Cellular networks. This identifies the current access network over which the command needs to be sent. This is valid only for remote commands which need to be sent to remote MIHF. The command is then sent either at L2 or at L3. MACMobileTerminalMAC Address MAC Address of Mobile Terminal QueryResourceListList of resources to be queried at the new candidate network.
In section , MIH_Handover_Prepare.response, is modified as follows: MIH_Handover_Prepare.response ( SourceIdentifier, DestinationIdentifier, CurrentLinkIdentifier, MACMobileTerminal, ResourceStatus, AvailableResourceList, )
MACMobileTerminalMAC Address MAC Address of Mobile Terminal ResourceStatusSpecifies whether requested resources are available or not at the new PoA. AvailableResourceListList of resources actually available at the new suggested network and the new network PoA.
Solution In section , MIH_Handover_Complete.request, is modified as follows: MIH_Handover_Complete.request ( SourceIdentifier, DestinationIdentifier, CurrentLinkIdentifier, MACMobileTerminal, )
MACMobileTerminalMAC Address MAC Address of Mobile Terminal
