3 3 Introduction A template handover flow chart to cover the key points of MIH based handover scenarios. To harmonize the example handover scenarios in the appendix – 802.11/802.16 – 802.11/3GPP – 802.11/3GPP2 – 802.3/ 802.11 – Etc.

4 4 Template Handover Flow Chart Notes: 1. MIH User may be L3 (MIP), etc. 2. MAC-1, MAC-2 may be replaced with WLAN (802.11) MAC, WMAN (802.16) MAC, 3GPP, 3GPP2, etc. 3. POA-S (POS-Serving), POA-C1/C2 (POA-Candidate 1/2) may be replaced with AP (802.11), BS (802.16), etc.. 4. Serving Access Network and Candidate Access Network may be replaced with WLAN AN, WMAN AN, etc. 5. MIH User in the Serving AN may be old AR (for MIP); and MIH User in Candidate AN may be new AR.
