21-06-0499-00-0000 Change of supported link layer events Devices such as hot-plugged interfaces or an external module may cause the list of supported link layer events to change in any time. Sometimes, it is very important to send the changed message to high layer automatically in time for deciding to initiate handover in real-time scenario.

21-06-0499-00-0000 New Event Primitives 1 In section 7.3 Link Layer Primitives, add the following primitive: Link_Event_Capability.Indication: Function Automatically send the changed message of the list of supported link layer events to MIH layer. Semantics of service primitive The primitive parameters are as follows: Link_Event_Capability. Indication ( EventSource, SupportedEventList ); NameTypeValid RangeDescription Event SourceLINK_EVENT_SOURCEN/AThe origination point from where list of supported events is changed. This can be used to report both local and remote events SupportedEvent ListSet of Event IDsN/AList of link layer events supported or changed by the link layer

21-06-0499-00-0000 New Event Primitives 1(continue) LINK_EVENT_SOURCE is defined as follows. {Local Node, Remote Node}. Local and remote is referred with respect to destination. When generated When the list of supported link layer events is changed, the low layer would report this message to MIH layer by this primitive. Effect on receipt MIH layer will send this message to MIH users or take different actions on this notification.

21-06-0499-00-0000 New Event Primitives 2 In section 7.4 MIH Primitives, add the following primitive: MIH_Capability. Indication Function Send the changed message of the list of supported link layer events to MIH users. Semantics of service primitive The primitive parameters are as follows: MIH_Capability. Indication ( EventSource, SupportedEventList, SupportedCommandList ); NameTypeValid RangeDescription Event SourceLINK_EVENT _SOURCE N/AThe origination point from where list of supported events is changed. This can be used to report both local and remote events SupportedEvent ListFlagSet of supported eventsList of supported events. Refer to 8.4.1.2 SupportedCommandListFlagSet of supported commadns (optional) List of supported commands. Refer to 8.4.1.2

21-06-0499-00-0000 New Event Primitives 2(continue) LINK_EVENT_SOURCE is defined as follows. {Local Node, Remote Node}. Local and remote is referred with respect to destination. When generated When MIH layer receives the Link_Event_Capability. Indication, MIH layer will send it to MIH users immediately. Effect on receipt MIH users will take different actions on this notification

21-06-0499-00-0000 Usage scenario 1 The new primitive can be used to discovery the list of supported link layer events along with the existed primitive in 802.21 draft.
9
21-06-0499-00-0000 Usage scenario 2 Only using the new primitive to discovery the list of supported link layer events, instead of the existed primitive in 802.21 draft, especially when MIHF initiates.
