Warm-Up In your AP English 11 journal, respond to the following prompt: What is the purpose of a course syllabus?

AP English 11 Syllabus Peruse the syllabus. As you read, use a pen with colored ink to make notes on the text (you are also welcome to use highlighters and post-it notes). Have a conversation with the people around you about the syllabus. Possible topics for conversation: something interesting, something concerning, something neat, etc… Class & Teacher Q&A

AP English 11: Summer HW Self-score & reflection (as per handout) Record scores Submit tasks #3, 4, 5

Homework: Due Weds. 9/3/14 Summer Assignment Reflection: Materials needed: Summer Assignment handout; 3 highlighters (green/yellow/pink) Task: Carefully read the SA handout. Identify each direct task to complete. Reflect on how well you completed that task by highlighting the direction. Write an overall reflection (1-2 paragraphs) about your intent and completion of the SA. Use this information to write a specific study-skills related goal for AP English 11. Green: very well/thoroughly Yellow: okay/mostly Pink: not at all/poorly Signed Syllabus: Look over the syllabus with your parent/guardian and get signatures.
