Spanish Interactive Notebook

2 Bellwork – 26 de julio Please get out your notecard from yesterday. Please share with one person at your table the reasons that you came up with for why it would be a good idea for someone to learn a foreign language. Were your ideas the same as your partners? Different? Similar? Be prepared to be called on to answer this question when Mr. Hallock asks the class about it.

4 What is an Interactive Notebook?
The purpose of the Interactive Student Notebook is to enable you to be a creative, independent thinker and writer. Interactive notebooks will be used for class notes as well as for other activities in which you will be asked to express your own ideas and process the information presented in class.

5 Written down information you are given in class
How does it work? Left side Student Output Demonstrates your understanding of the information from the right side page Ex.) brainstorming, mind mapping, thinking maps, pictures, drawing cards, reflections, writing prompts, sketches, cartoons, vocabulary, and bellwork (easier to find that way) Right side Teacher Input Written down information you are given in class Ex.) cornell style notes, handouts, vocabulary words

6 What do you need? Spiral Notebook (8 1/2” X 11” or bigger)
3 glue sticks Scissors Red pen 4 different colored highlighters (Green, Pink, Blue, Yellow)

7 How do you set it up? Outside Cover
Cover- the cover of the notebook should include the following: Cuaderno Interactivo de Espanol Name and class period At least 5 pictures/images relating to Spanish class (you may use whatever method you want to decorate the front cover but it must include all of these items)

8 Espanol 1 & 1B How do you set it up? About Me
The first lined page will be titled “About Me” Here you will write about yourself so that I can get to know you better. Personalize your notebook on this page by including things such as: age, height, favorite foods, hobbies/interests, family members, etc. (Spanish 1B students only, write a reflection on your 1st year of Spanish last year. Did you like it? What did you like about it? What did you not like?) Must be at least ½ a page long.

9 How do you set it up? Interactive Notebook Guidelines
The back of the “About Me” page will be titled “Interactive notebook Guidelines” Here you will put down what each color means: Green – Vocab Pink – Culture Blue – Grammar/Sentence Structure Yellow – Bellwork KEEP THE REST OF THE PAGE NEAT, WE WILL RETURN TO THIS 

10 How do you set it up? Table of Contents
The next 10 pages in the notebook will be titled Tabla de contenido (Table of Contents) and will include page #, name of activity, date and score Here is how I want you to set it up (do not include the English translations in red) Tabla de Contenido (Table of Contents) Página: Actividad (Activity/Title of Notes) Fecha (date) (Page)

11 How do you set it up? Numbering
After you have set up 10 pages for the table of contents then you will begin to number 1 page. Both left and right page will be the same number. ONLY number the first page until you hear further instructions!

12 Keep up! It is your responsibility to stay on track with the table of contents and doing all activities. This also includes when you are absent! All the activities will be posted on my teacher webpage There will also be a class master copy in class

13 Homework Interactive Notebook Cover and “About Me” page are due on Friday, July 28. Signed Syllabus is due on Friday, July 28.
