You need: A Highlighter A Pen or Pencil "Reaping the Rewards of Risk-Taking"

Now, create a chart in your journal that looks like this: Note: Be flexible in your number of boxes. Be prepared to complete at least 3!

Defend or negate the following statement: Steve Jobs benefited from taking risks in his life. After reading the article, you will be asked to respond to the following question in writing:

Task: 1. As we read the article, highlight the risks Jobs took and his rewards. 2. Stop after each paragraph to fill in our chart.

Exit Ticket: In your journal, write a paragraph on the following: Describe at least two ways in which Mr. Jobs was a nonconformist. How did his nonconformity change the world we live in? How will it shape our future? Use textual evidence to support their opinions. By the end of the lesson, all will students will explore nonfiction in depth so that they can make text-to-world connections and back up their ideas with textual evidence. They will also explore their own beliefs and values, and then create their own “credo poems". How did we meet our learning goal?

Start Up: Journal “Describe what you think Steve Jobs’s legacy to the world is. What lessons has his life taught you? What might you do differently in the future based on these lessons? Use textual evidence from yesterday's article to support your opinion.”

By the end of the lesson, all will students will explore nonfiction in depth so that they can make text-to-world connections and back up their ideas with textual evidence. They will also explore their own beliefs and values, and then create their own “credo poems". Learning Goal: Agenda:

“ Describe what you think Steve Jobs’s legacy to the world is. What lessons has his life taught you? What might you do differently in the future based on these lessons? Use textual evidence from yesterday's article to support your opinion.” Highlight two sentences from your response that you would like to contribute to the class! Discuss this idea with your table group! All members must participate, but you may decide what order you share in!

Task: With your table group, read and annotate the article "What is Your Personal Credo?". Highlight the main idea in each paragraph. Highlight words you think are important or do not understand.

Every person needs a personal credo. After reading the article, discuss the following question with your group! All members must participate!

Listen to Tarak McLain's credo! Keep in mind that you will be writing a credo yourself! Journal: What are some of Tarak's core beliefs? Do you find your beliefs similar or different from Terek? How much do you think Tarak's beliefs are reflective of his age. Feel free to use examples from your own experiences in your response.

Let's look at the this i believe website!

And yes, we will be publishing our work!!!

Task: With your partner, explore the This I Believe website. While exploring, think about what it is you truly believe in and what you would like to include in your essay.
